Why So Many People Choose One Day At A Time Over Other Sober Living Homes

We follow one of the nations most successful models which is:
First - Never Overcrowd:
Each large two bedroom furnished residence has only two people in each bedroom and never more than four people in each residence - no Bunk Beds.
Second - Testing:
Every resident is tested on a regular basis. Zero tolerance policy. If someone relapses they have to leave immediately.
Third - Convenient Location:
Close to buses, markets and AA/NA meetings.
Fourth -
Providing a caring supportive environment that helps to maintain the resident's sobriety

Home of the - "Sober Living Life Style". An effective tool for long term sobriety.

For men and women we are located in North Park and owned and managed by a professional corporation. Each member of the board is a semi-retired business person that has either lost or had a family member in recovery. One of the reasons that One Day at a Time was founded in 1999 was to be able to give back to the community.

For our support and involvement in the recovery community we have received many awards including certificates of appreciation from Recovery Walk, Recovery Games and Recovery Happens. We were also a board member of Recovery Games and a community liaison to the Salvation Army Board....

Many residents are referred to us by recovery programs, government agencies and the court system including Prop. 36. We are a provider for many programs including Mental Health Systems, Inc's SASCA, H.R.360 STOP approved, Club Vet programs and AB 109. Additionally, out of the over 100 sober living homes in San Diego County, we are one of only five to be CAARR certified.

There is no government oversight of sober living houses in San Diego County. As a result, too many places are owned and operated by people with little or no management experience. Many put profit ahead of service and quality. They may have 8 to 15 people in each residence. Some have Bunk Beds, men and women in the same residence and inadequate testing procedures. This usually results in an overcrowded, stressful living environment that is not conducive to one's recovery.
