| We are located in North Park and owned and managed by a professional corporation. Each member of the board is a semi-retired business person that has had a family member in recovery. One of the reasons that One Day at a Time was founded in 1999 was to be able to give back to the community.
For our support and involvement in the recovery community we have received certificates of appreciation from Recovery Walk, Recovery Games and Recovery Happens. We were also a board member of Recovery Games and a community liaison to the Salvation Army Board..
Many residents are referred to us by recovery programs, government agencies and the court system including Prop. 36. We are a provider for Mental Health Systems, Inc's SASCA, SIP and Club Vet programs.
ALCOHOL/DRUG TESTING There is no goverment oversight of sober living houses in San Diego County. As a result, too many places are owned and operated by people with little or no management experience. Many put profit ahead of service and quality. They may have 8 to 15 people in each residence. Some have Bunk Beds, men and women in the same residence and inadequate testing procedures. This usually results in an overcrowded, stressful living environment that is not conducive to one's recovery.
